Frequently asked questions
Straight answers about what this prototype does and does not do.
Is Smart Shopping Assistant free to use?
This single-file prototype has no payment feature. Hosting, a future AI service, storage or other third-party services may create operating costs. Any future charge to users should be disclosed clearly before use.
Does it compare live prices across Amazon, Temu and other marketplaces?
No. The current version turns a description into draft search phrases and opens marketplace search pages. It does not retrieve live listings, stock, delivery fees, taxes, coupons or prices, so it cannot calculate which platform is cheapest.
Does it recommend a specific product?
The current prototype mainly suggests product types and search phrases. It does not verify individual listings. Product-level recommendations should only be shown when accurate product information and a valid, permitted destination link are available.
How is this different from a coupon or cashback service?
The focus here is needs-based shopping planning: clarifying what the user needs, suggesting possible functional alternatives, and collecting ideas into a shareable list. The prototype does not promise automatic coupon discovery, cashback or price tracking.
Where is my shopping list stored?
In the current prototype, list names and quantities are stored in browser local storage. Product photos are stored locally using IndexedDB if available, and they are processed in your browser. This prototype has no hosted photo-list sharing page. Clearing browser data may remove your list and pictures.
Does the website earn commission from product links?
The Home and Product Finder pages now include Amazon short links supplied by the site owner. The linked product details and affiliate tracking were not independently verified. Product names and images remain unconfigured until licensed data is available. If approved affiliate links are added later, the site should clearly disclose that it may earn a commission near the relevant recommendation or link. See the FTC guidance on affiliate disclosures for US-facing endorsements.
Does the tool use AI to understand every request?
Not in this downloadable prototype. The need and alternative interpreters use improved offline demonstration rules, including distinct handling for rolling carts and kitchen boxes. A production AI model requires a secure server-side connection; private API keys must not be placed in public browser code.
Can I use all eight marketplaces in every country?
No universal coverage is promised. Marketplace access, categories, search pages, shipping and seller availability vary by country. The current destination selector has presets for the US, UK, Singapore, Germany, Australia and Canada; users elsewhere should check the marketplace’s local storefront.
Does a material label prove a squishy toy is safe?
No. A material name or marketing phrase does not prove that the finished product meets the safety requirements for its intended user and destination market. Check the manufacturer’s information, age guidance and relevant testing or certification information.
